Kilmore trainer, Alicia Macpherson, had a big day at Ararat's Cup Day meeting on Sunday.
Macpherson saddled up a winning double with Restricted Entry and Black Beast.
Restricted Entry, a four-year-old gelded son of Keltrice and Deadwood Stage, was having only his third start for Minstral Park stable when he showed a reversal in form, coming off a last placing at Wangaratta last month, to lead all the way to comfortably to take out the Maiden Plate, 1200 metres.
"The 1000 metres didn't suit him last start as he dropped back in distance after a good Kilmore run first up over the 1200" Macpherson said.
Restricted Entry, ridden by Mark Pegus, defeated the $2.70 favourite, Amorite, by 1 3/4 lengths with Team Effort, a short-head third.
Macpherson's second leg winner, Black Beast, ridden by apprentice, Jarrod Fry, also led from go to whoa in taking out the Class 1 Handicap, 1100 metres.
A five-year-old gelded son of Sunday Knight and Spirit of Venus, Black Beast, although a close-up fourth placing at his previous start at Tatura, was friendless in the market, paying $23.80 on Supertab.
Purchased by Kilmore businessman, David Comans, as a foal at foot, Black Beast is leased to friends of Comans who include local businessmen Greg Clancy and Darren Kemp, and has kept a share himself.
The gelding was off the scene for nearly 10 months prior to this prep due to a sesamoid injury, having won on his home track prior to the setback.
Black Beast has now had 15 starts for two wins and four minor placings.
