Call On Kevin confirmed he has found his niche on the Geelong Synthetic track with a strong win in the in the Sportingbet Handicap (1200m).
Call On Kevin had finished second in his previous two outings on the Geelong Synthetic circuit before going one better in his latest assignment.
Jockey Brian Park stuck with Call On Kevin after riding him at his last four starts and the rider gave his mount the perfect trip.
A smart beginning left Call On Kevin travelling comfortably just behind the leaders but Park was happy to let him drift back to a midfield position as the field sorted itself out.
Call On Kevin was going easily when Park let him stride forward into contention around the home turn.
Park took the son of God’s Own to the centre of the track early in the straight before Call On Kevin let down powerfully in the final 250m to score a decisive win.
Call On Kevin’s latest win was his fourth in 31 starts and the $9000 winner’s cheque took his earnings to more than $59,000.
